Kongsberg Maritime Upgrades S-VDR Package

March 31, 2006

The Maritime Black Box - S (MBB-S), Kongsberg Maritime's S-VDR offering, has been upgraded. The black box computer's hard disk size has been increased from 40 gb standard/120 gb optional, to 160 gb standard, which now enables up to 30 days playback time, for the same cost. Also, Kongsberg Maritime has now packaged the MBB-S in one compact marine grade cabinet. Previously, the system was only available as separate rack-mounted units, but following customer feedback, Kongsberg Maritime has re-packaged the system at no extra cost to the owner. Additionally, the Remote Annual Survey package, designed to enable the ship's crew to conduct S-VDR surveys in conjunction with Kongsberg Maritime has been unlocked and is now available for use on any onboard PC.
Trite but true, the path to decarbonization has no ‘silver bullet’ solution.
